When you major in medieval history, the world is pretty much your oyster, you know? Okay, so maybe it’s not the most traditional path to owning a successful PR and marketing services firm, but Lee Caraher makes it work — and she refuses to work with jerks. That’s an actual rule she has, and she structures her client contracts in a way designed to make sure she sticks to that rule. Sure, it may be business-limiting, but it’s life-enhancing, she says. And that’s what creates a sustainable business model for growth.
Lee has some awesome ideas about how to recruit — and retain — top talent, including a mix of millennials and older employees, so that she can work with different target markets. She’s also mastered the art of client retention — her clients stick with her more than twice as long as they stay with her competitors.
